“The gate won’t close” can come from power, limits, obstruction sensing, safety devices, controls, wiring, or gate mechanics. The manual for the exact operator matters.

Won’t open

Check whether the operator has power, whether the gate moves freely by hand when safely disconnected, and what the model’s indicators or error codes show.

Won’t close

Safety devices and obstruction inputs deserve attention. Do not defeat a photo eye, safety edge, or other required protection to force the gate closed.

Reverses or stops

Look for a mechanical bind, limit-setting issue, obstruction detection, sensor problem, or model-specific diagnostic code.

Remote range is poor

Check the remote battery, antenna placement, receiver condition, interference, and whether the remote is correct for the receiver.
